Local Regulation

 

1. Introduction

This Local Regulation establishes the specific rules for the British Open 2016 that will take place in Manteigas, Portugal and is a complement to other legislation and regulations applicable to the competition.

 

2. Characterization of Competition

Competition :   Paragliding Open (FAI CAT 2)

Venue:                                 Manteigas, Portugal

Schedule:            Saturday 9th - Training day

                               Sunday 10th to Saturday 16th - Competition days

3. Registration

All pilots should go to the Headquarters for validation of their registration. 

All registered pilots will be provided with:

·         ID card indicating pilot name and number, organization main contacts, radio frequencies and retrieval information (*);

  • Event's Neckband (*);
  • Event's T-shirt (*);
  • Daily lunch pack and water;
  • Transportation to take-offs from Headquarters (pilot and equipment);
  • Retrieval on accessible roads;
  • Free access to the ceremonies and parties mentioned on the event programme.

(*) Delivered at registration.

 

 

 

4. Take-off

Sign-to Fly and DNF

Pilots who wish to compete in the day´s task should sign the Sign-to-Fly list at take-off.

Pilots that do not wish to compete in the day’s task for whatever reason, MUST send a text message to the organizers (phone numbers provided in the ID card) according to the following format:

Pilot Number[space]DNF

Failure to do so will result in a penalty of 50% reduction in the number of points obtained in the next task flown by the pilot. Repeated failures will be penalized with a total loss of the points obtained in the next task flown by the pilot.

The organizers will consider that all pilots that do not report DNF have taken-off.

 

Restart

D01 – AZINHA:Restart allowed only for serious safety reasons

D02 – VALE DE AMOREIRA:Two attempts of take-off will be permitted if within the opening time of the window. The organization will provide means of transportation at regular intervals from the official landing to allow pilots to return to the take-off.

 

5. Live-Tracking

All pilots MUST carry a Live-Tracking device switched on during the whole flight. Failure to do so will result in a penalty consisting of a total loss of the points obtained in the task.

Pilots should leave the Live-Tracking device switched on until they are retrieved.

 

6. Inflight Radio Frequency

All pilots MUST fly with their radios tuned to the Flight/Safety frequency: 143.925 MHz

 

7. Landing

All pilots MUSTreport back their safe landing, regardless of the location (including the official landing or goal) by sending a text message to the organizers (phone numbers provided in the ID card) indicating the geographic coordinates of their location according to the following format:

Pilot Number[space]DD.dddd[space]DD.dddd

DD.dddd - Coordinates (latitude and longitude) in decimal format

After landing, pilots must keep their radios on the retrieval frequency (143.950 MHz) until they are retrieved, to be able to communicate with the retrieval vehicle, if necessary.

Failure to report back landing will be penalized by a reprimand. A second failure will result in a penalty of 20% reduction in the number of points obtained in the task. Additional failures will result in a penalty of 50% reduction in the number of points obtained in the task.

 

8 - GPS check-in

All pilots that do not report DNF MUST give in their GPS devices. Failure to do so will result in a penalty of 20% reduction in the number of points obtained in the next task flown by the pilot. Repeated failures will be penalized with a 50% reduction in the number of points obtained in the next task flown by the pilot.
